Thanks you for being pateint enough to put up with a bit of that, and still remain a loyal committed JA member. That's the kind of love that builds true community - whether or not it involves living together.n0rma1https://www.blogger.com/profile/04759839214467484759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26927801.post-70293074893176488912011-12-05T11:09:24.825+00:002011-12-05T11:09:24.825+00:00Ahh yes, the Screwtape-type mug shenanigans!Ahh yes, the Screwtape-type mug shenanigans!ichthyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15831416030363625287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26927801.post-66243803441740508882011-12-05T10:57:24.135+00:002011-12-05T10:57:24.135+00:00I have been part of the Jesus Army for almost 20 y...I have been part of the Jesus Army for almost 20 years and during that time others have spoken to me about community. It is not a calling for me personally but I would always support others that feel that calling and would never try to convince them otherwise. The only thing I would add is that I would hope that those that have felt from God that christian community is right for them, that they are open minded towards those that know it isn't for them and the don't try to push community down people's throats. Out of respect for other people I will not mention personal examples of what has happened to me with this, but people, over the years that I have been around have dealt with me totally in a wrong way about this. I remain part of the church because I want to be and I love being part of it.Keithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26927801.post-18510721189673387072011-05-04T14:40:37.238+01:002011-05-04T14:40:37.238+01:00Colin, I certainly wouldn't claim that the for...Colin, I certainly wouldn't claim that the form of community in Acts 2 and 4 is the same as the form of community I live in - though I would see it as inspired by the same Spirit and carrying the same kingdom impetus. And elsewhere in the New Testament we have Paul greeting 'the church in the house'. Again, not identical to the kind of community I live in, but a glimpse of the fact that the Holy Spirit came to fashion something a little more radical than weekly house groups.

Thanks for your feedback.n0rma1https://www.blogger.com/profile/04759839214467484759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26927801.post-24583336064178841662011-05-03T18:30:32.065+01:002011-05-03T18:30:32.065+01:00INspiring and convicting. There is only one rule. Respect other residents. Everything else flows from that.

I must take 1 issue with you, however. In the New Testament, we have a community of Christians, but we do not have communal living. People sold property so that there were funds to support the poorer members of the church (not common purse), but nowhere does it say that people sold their own houses to move in with other people.

"With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For FROM TIME TO TIME those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and IT WAS DISTRIBUTED TO ANYONE WHO HAD NEED."

Of course, I may be mistaken.Waycyberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17482995236036430411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26927801.post-2242617525667866212011-05-03T16:41:31.655+01:002011-05-03T16:41:31.655+01:00Oh yes
