Love is...

Quite late last night, I got a text from a young disciple. 'I just want to be loved'. I'd noticed earlier that she was a bit down and my heart goes out to her.

Because the thing is, she really is loved. But it's one thing to say that and another for her to feel it.

I was thinking about her this morning on the way to work. And it made me think about love and Jesus and why we love Him and a scripture came to mind:

We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

He 'just wants to be loved' too. But He got on with loving us and dying for us while we couldn't care a damn (literally). So I suppose there's a lesson for my young disciple in that: get on with loving others and love will be your reward.

And as it happens, I have real trust in this young disciple. She may know her need and feel some pain and loneliness at times - but she's taking hold of Jesus and His Church and she's got a shining future - full of love.

Beautiful. This is one of the deep kingdom secrets. The 'giving' which gives rise to the 'receiving'. I'm inspired.

Incidentally, I've just realised how many White Stone people have a blog. Amazing. I was thinking of starting one myself. Reckon I ought to (check out the link)?

giving and more continual giving and i never seem to get anything in return. in most ways, im not looking for anything back-especially not when im giving. just when im having a really down day and i look back to see signs that im loved and that when people say 'bless you' that they do actually mean it, i see nothing. i would write more but i cant see for tears.

i know when i express love it is not always with an 'i love you'. It's with a 'how are you?', 'you look down, what's up?', 'come and sit with us!' and a heart which fills up with caring about a person (particularly when they don't tell you what is bothering them!). I guess when i've felt unloved it takes a lot to shake it off - even if someone pours affection on to me. And yes, it deffinately helps to keep on giving to others.... I love you a lot too.

Hey, anonymous, I love you too. And I'm glad you've been honest enough to open up your heart and how you really feel. You're just as loved when you express need as you are when you express vision and keenness...

sup i reckon tht it would be yet another avenue for you to fly the celibacy flag go for it bro
love is not always something that we feel but we often are blind to it but i know that it is always there can not touch it always but that is where faith in God and your brethren is so beautiful coz even when we move God does not and our brethren do not we just choose to take our selves out of the middle of the big fat river of love
